Macie Dominique (she/hers), M.A., Ed.S., LPC
Macie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tulane University. Following her passion for education, she started her career as a school psychologist after completing her Ed.S. from The University of Denver. However, Macie soon realized her dream of merging her love for animals with her dedication to mental health. This led her back to graduate school at Adams State, where she earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Additionally, she achieved certification in Equine-Assisted Mental Health from DU’s Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC).
Macie has since dedicated her career to working with individuals of various ages, with a particular focus on supporting women struggling with dating and relationship issues, as well as attachment trauma. Her therapeutic approach is comprehensive, involving the assessment of attachment styles and the application of evidence-based techniques for trauma treatment, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She incorporates mindfulness, body awareness, and a sense of humor to create a safe and engaging therapeutic environment.
Currently, Macie is running groups aimed at empowering young women, helping them build confidence and resilience through the unique integration of animal-assisted therapy. Her work continues to make a profound impact, blending her expertise in mental health with her passion for the healing power of animals.
