About Jackie

Jackie is a resident of Boulder, Colorado and works in Longmont, she loves to call the Rocky Mountains home. Originally a native of Wisconsin, Jackie bought her first horse at the age of 14. Art and horses were a world of play, creativity, and a safe haven from an often chaotic and unpredictable home life. Jackie spent her youth drawing, dancing and creating a personal relationship with these powerful creatures.

She had always been interested in how humans used art as an expression beyond decor or performance. Jackie understood that art was a pathway to heal people and communities as a ritual of expression. With the passing of her mother, Jackie found immense support and healing through a Dance Therapy class. Through this experience, the lifelong exploration of dance found its way into her life as a healing modality.

Jackie studied Dance and Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 1983.

After several years of working, traveling and living Jackie found her place at Naropa University in Boulder, CO, where she received a Master’s in Somatic Counseling-Psychology and Dance/Movement Therapy in 1990.

Jackie’s background in anthropology offered her the skills and ability to observe without judgment, which has given her a unique lens to support individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental challenges. She applied her anthropological lens with her understanding of somatic psychology and brought dance, music, art and body expression into her work.

Jackie is still fascinated by what influences people’s experience and expression of trauma. In 2001, through the extended studies program at Naropa University, Jackie was introduced to horses as healers, something she understood deeply in her youth. She is grateful to co-facilitate with such majestic creatures, to bring harmony and healing to many people.
